Have you ever considered owning a a floating barge house in France ? If you've ever motored down the Canal du Midi or through the vineyards of Burgundy while sipping wine with friends, it's an experience you might love to repeat each year. The Blackwell's had our first ever barging experience in July and August of 2007 with 4 teenagers playing cards on the deck, navigating the locks, and hopping over to purchase fresh figs from the vender's fruit stand near the lock.
Although we originally planned to offer La Tulipe as a shared home, navigating a 95 ton boat is a big responsibility! For that reason, after completely repainting and refurbishing her, we prefer to resell her to a single buyer.
Here are some specific details This is a 24 meter barge house boat currently moored near the Canal du Midi in S., France. She comes completely ready to sail away having had in February 2007, a survey and all work and maintenance completed . Included are all necessary furniture and fittings. These include 3 large double staterooms with full tile bath and shower, built in cabinets, and a desk), sofa and lounge chairs, 2 rosewood buffets, stereo and video equipment with VHS tape, CD and cassette player and DVD, a dining suite for 8, washing machine and dryer, gas barbecue, and central heating. We have an extensive list of equipment for the boat upon request.
The barge is a classic Tjalk with the charm of yesteryear and the conveniences of today. She is equipped for cruising of rivers or canals or equally at home in port where you can sip your wine while enjoying the delights of nearby shops and boats along the waterways or Europe.
Layout--interior / exterior
Large pilothouse/dining/living area for 6 to 10 persons, with refrigerator (220 V/gas). Included here is a large dining table w/extension, chairs, an L-shaped lounge, 42" helm, and navigational instruments, all surrounded by large panoramic windows.
The Main Salon is furnished with rosewood chairs finished in leather, 2 rosewood buffets, a table, 1 sofa. An entertainment center is built into the starboard side and consists of Satellite TV, a Sony Hi-Fi radio,and multi CD player and cassette player w/2 speakers. In the main salon is a matching bar and stools, facing the American galley. The galley is open to the main Salon, and consists of a 4 burner gas range w/oven, range hood, large gas/electric refrigerator, double stainless steel sink, Complete cookware and settings for 8 people. This entire area is fitted with large, sliding glass windows affording views of the countryside while cruising, or in port.
Forward are two large double staterooms w/double berths, each equipped with full tile bath and shower, built in cabinets, desk and hanging lockers. The aft cabin is the original Dutch owner's quarters with its original natural wood cabinets, double berth, head and shower in the manner d'epoque.
Aft of the pilothouse is the walk-in engine room and the laundry area convenient to the center of the ship. Outside: La Tulipe features complete walk-around decks with railing. She also features a large sun deck for 10 people, including chairs, 2 tables and 2 umbrellas.
