Pizzera Carne alla Brace - Down the street on the left. VERY good (grilled meats, very good wine list). Café Seven, any time of the day for coffee, gelato, light lunch, wine in the evening. Neighborhood place. Citta della Pieve From Monteleone ,go back to 71 . . from the parking lot take the road on the left down to the main road, turn left. Follow the road for about 15 minutes or so and you will see a town in front of you. When you come to the Fiat dealer on your left, take the road that goes off to the right. You will see the arch, go past it to the right and follow that around. *On market day (Sat), find any parking you can along this road and go back through the arch and up. **On a regular day, keep going around and up until you see the Hotel Vannuci sign on your right. Find some parking around here, you are closer to the top of the main street. There is a café and a market just to the right of the first cross street. If you go past the market, on the left you come to the Hotel Vannuci and I’ve been told they have a nice dinner there in the garden. You can stop in the make reservations.
• Stefanini Café (gelato and wonderful specialy cookies). • Just past Jolly there is a little pizza shop that serves good pizza by the slice. They have a few seats but you can take it outside and sit in the piazza. • Hotel Vannuci – dinner (see directions)
From Monteleone, go back down to 71 and turn right. Go past Seven Café to the roundabout but don’t take the road to Fabro Scalo, take the next road through the circle. There should be a sign for Montegabbione (SR15) You will come to another roundabout. The first right is a dead end;take the next road (SP60). The sign will say Montegabbione. You will come to another Montegabbione sign and bear right (SP58). You will see more signs (one is Fabro Scalo), keep bearing right. Then enter a residential neighborhood and eventually see Peperoncino on the left. Parking is across from the restaurant. • Peperoncino – good pizza and dinner entrees. Family restaurant.
Pienza: (lovely town to walk through)
• Have lunch with a gorgeous view at the Relais II, Chiostro di Pienza hotel. Good food, good service . . . not too many tables, get there early. Mid-price range.
