Talented artist Julie Houck creates original art for Maison Bleue
In the best of all worlds, we have the freedom and the compelling inner drive to earn our living doing what we do best, whether that is shepherding sheep in the highlands of Scotland, teaching 2nd graders the magic of reading, or expressing ourselves visually in the arts. I often feel blessed in those moments when I can create an image in print which propels my reader into the sights, smells, and emotions of France.
Julie Houck is one such person. She is a member of the International Plein Air Painters and teaches workshops in both Maui and France.I “met” Julie online when she was inquiring about ownership in our Maison Bleue homeshare. As our talk evolved, Julie and I mutually decided that it would be wonderful to exchange vacation time in France for an original painting. Dans le Jardin is the result! In Julie’s words “Your painting is from a little farm just outside Capestang on the way to Narbonne. As you turn onto the road from D5, the farm is just on the right with the little potager ( vegetable garden) behind.
