My vision this year is to find another property similar to our Cruzy one- very light-filled, an open room plan, walking distance to a weekly marketplace, two to three bedroom, 2 baths, oozing with charm, and affordable… no tall order! How does that sound? To this end, my partners and I have spent a good 60 days scouring the internet ads and chasing down properties which might fit the bill. I can hardly believe it but we’ve come up with 24 properties to look at.In 2008, this means that we will start in the Var ( Provence) and work our way to our beloved Languedoc, and then head down to the Midi Pyrenees and to lovely Cerbere (http://www.cerbere-village.com/vignoble.php3) where we’ll try to locate another gem with a sea view, like Catalonia SCI, which is now completely subscribed.
Not satisfied with resting on my laurels, I’m sure that I will try to squeeze in repainting the captain’s quarters of our wonderful historic barge. La Tulipe ( click here ), and then move on to phase two of remodeling our own Blackwell vacation house, le Petit Pois ( the Little Pea ) in Quarante, France close to Beziers. For those of you who are currently owners and who took the leap of faith by purchasing a share of one of our homes in France without seeing it first, but based your own due diligence of the area and concept, I can completely relate. My husband and I found this tiny 60m2 house for sale in an ideal location in the Minervois in the village we know and love. The price was irresistible (30,000 euros) andwe knew that we would not be able to return to France to see it before someone else snapped it up, so we bought it sight unseen after paying French friends of ours to visit, take photos, and report back to us!You may be thinking- Wow! What a steal!A steal with a ton of work ahead…
In any event, keep tuned to this station for news of what happened, what we found, how my “Little Pea” house is progressing, and why French Property Shares thoughts are turning next to Spain and even Italy for the New Year. I’ll be back for the first annual meeting of our Catalonia SCI group on January 19th and 20th. With members flying or driving here from the UK, Colorado, Kansas, and Canada, to name a few spots, it promises to be a most interesting and informative owner meeting.
My job is to find the ideal property at an affordable price, handle the multiple requirements for foreign ownership, and provide you with a turn-key property to use and to enjoy.
